A Tree as a Tribute: Planting the Olga Havlová Linden
We concluded this year’s planting season in a truly symbolic way. On the occasion of what would have been the 90th birthday of the charismatic Olga Havlová, we had the honor of participating in the planting of a commemorative linden tree in M. Čulen Park in Bratislava. This marks the sixth Olga Havlová Tree planted outside the Czech Republic and the first tree planted abroad in 2023 to honor Mrs. Olga.
The symbolic planting was made possible by the initiative of the Committee of Good Will – Olga Havlová Foundation, represented by its director, Monika Granja, and board member Ivan Gabal. The event was attended by Norbert Kurilla, advisor to the President of the Slovak Republic, Jakub Mrva, Deputy Mayor of Bratislava, and former dissident Jolana Kusá, who shared her memories. We are deeply honored that this circle was completed with our participation, as representatives of the Ekopolis Foundation. Together with our Planting the Future initiative, we donated this symbolic tree—a small-leaved linden—as a living witness to the legacy of Olga Havlová, the first lady of the Czechs and Slovaks.
