New EEA Civil Society Fund Slovakia Call to Strengthen the Capacity and Stability of Civil Society Organisations with Nearly €2 Million in Funding

Topics

Behind every organisation that supports people in need, protects human rights, speaks out against injustice, or creates opportunities for civic engagement are dedicated people, valuable experience, and everyday commitment. To carry out this work effectively and over the long term, organisations need more than project funding – they also need a stable foundation.

This is precisely the purpose of Call No. 5 for Organisational Grants under the EEA Civil Society Fund Slovakia. The call will provide €1.92 million in funding to strengthen civil society organisations across Slovakia.

Unlike traditional project grants, organisational grants are not intended to finance a specific project. Instead, they are designed to strengthen the organisations themselves by supporting their governance, financial stability, strategic planning, internal processes, professional capacities, and long-term sustainability.

Today, many civil society organisations operate in an environment shaped by uncertainty, short-term project funding, and increasing demands for professionalisation. Alongside their day-to-day work, they often struggle to find the time and resources needed to develop, plan for the future, and build resilient organisations capable of responding to evolving societal challenges.

What makes organisational grants unique is that they invest directly in organisations rather than individual projects. They give organisations the flexibility to strengthen their own development, professional capacity, and strategic priorities according to their specific needs. This type of support enhances the stability, resilience, and long-term sustainability of organisations that play a vital role in protecting democracy, the rule of law, and human rights in Slovakia.

Successful applicants may receive grants ranging from €100,000 to €120,000 for projects lasting 30 to 36 months. Applications can be submitted until 11 September 2026.

New Opportunities for International Cooperation

Alongside the organisational grants, we are also launching Call No. 7 for Bilateral Initiatives, which supports cooperation between civil society organisations in Slovakia and partners from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.

The call aims to foster new partnerships and strengthen existing ones through the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and good practice. Eligible activities include study visits, professional events, educational activities, and the preparation of future joint projects.

A total of €80,000 has been allocated to the call, with grants of up to €25,000 available for each initiative. Applications may be submitted until 31 August 2026.

Information Webinar

To help potential applicants prepare their proposals, we are organising an information webinar introducing both calls. During the webinar, we will present the eligibility criteria, eligible activities, and the application process.
