The Platform For Soil focuses on advancing regenerative agriculture and agroforestry in Slovakia. Its mission is to improve soil health and food quality, facilitate knowledge exchange among farmers and experts, and support the wider adoption of regenerative farming practices. To achieve these goals, Nadácia Ekopolis is developing the Pre pôdu Platform, supporting research through the demonstration Living Lab at the Mlyňany Arboretum, providing practical assistance to farmers, and promoting the integration of regenerative agriculture into university education.
During the first half of 2025, the platform organised several key events, including the international workshop “Sustainable Solutions for Agriculture and Plant Nutrition” and a field visit to the Mlyňany Arboretum, the conference “CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027: How New Financial Instruments and Sustainable Land Management Practices Will Shape the Future of Slovak Agriculture,” featuring a demonstration of the Weaving GD3001 G&F no-till seed drill, as well as an international roundtable on regenerative agriculture.
In 2024, Nadácia Ekopolis purchased a no-till (No-Till) seed drill, which has been tested by Slovak farmers since spring 2025. Field trials have been carried out in cooperation with the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA) as well as on several private farms, evaluating no-till cultivation methods under different farming conditions.
“In addition to the Mlyňany Arboretum and the Slovak University of Agriculture’s University Farm in Kolíňany, where we carried out autumn sowing in 2024, the seed drill was also used for spring sowing of oats into untilled soil following crimson clover at the Hôrka nad Váhom Agricultural Cooperative. It also proved successful on privately managed farms in Radošina, where it was used for sowing spring wheat and white clover after fallow land with vegetation cover, and for the direct sowing of spring barley and field peas on a farm in the village of Lok,” says Martin Gálik, Programme Manager at Nadácia Ekopolis.
The Pre pôdu Platform continues to prepare further events, field visits, and educational activities for students, farmers, and experts interested in regenerative agriculture and healthy landscapes.
