A new open Call for Small Grants is now available for civil society organisations in Slovakia working to strengthen democracy, protect human rights and support vulnerable communities.
The call responds to pressing societal challenges, including the weakening of the rule of law, declining trust in democratic institutions, and growing social polarisation.
A total of EUR 990,000 is available to support projects that encourage civic participation, promote media and information literacy, defend human rights, and provide support to displaced people. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, allowing organisations to respond flexibly to current needs and emerging challenges.
Supported activities include advocacy and watchdog initiatives, expert analysis of legislation, strategic communication, and actions aimed at protecting the public interest and democratic values.
“This call is designed to support organisations that bring expertise, long-term vision and a strong commitment to the public good. We want to help initiatives that contribute to lasting positive change in society,”said Veronika Záhradníková, Programme Manager.
The call also reflects the ongoing consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the need to support the integration of refugees in Slovakia. Particular attention is given to projects promoting social inclusion, equal opportunities, countering disinformation, and strengthening social cohesion, as well as to organisations working with Roma communities, women, LGBTIQ+ people, and persons with disabilities.
