New places for grilling and barbecuing have been added to the popular Partizánská meadow

A frequent goal of visitors to the forest park is to spend time in nature roasting, in the company of loved ones or friends. On nice days there is a huge interest in picnic places and finding a free fireplace can take longer. That is why the Bratislava City Forests have revitalized the neglected area on the edge of the sought-after recreational area, which already welcomes the first visitors.

The city forests in Bratislava were able to modify the area thanks to the support of the Ekopolis Foundation and the KELT beer brand. The area is located between a double gazebo and the Vydrica stream, in the originally seedy part of the recreation area.

After the successful work of volunteers and urban forest workers, a total of 4 new fireplaces with wooden seating, a modified lawn suitable for physical activities, new waste bins with wooden formwork and wooden stairs to the Vydrica stream were added. The fireplaces also have a built-in grate for grilling and a structure for hanging a goulash kettle.

“We are looking forward to continuing the success of the past years of the Kelt Helps Nature project this year as well, and to continue revitalizing picnic sites and fires in Slovakia. It turns out that the support of similar projects makes sense, especially this year, when tourists prefer a holiday in Slovakia, “says Radoslava Stratená, brand manager of the Kelt brand.

“It should not be forgotten that all fireplaces in the forest park are subject to strict fire management rules, especially during hot and dry summer days. At the same time, the Bratislava City Forests appeal to visitors to leave places clean, safe and free of rubbish, such as empty bottles or cans. Of course, these rules should be a matter of course for tourists, wherever they are, “says Martina Paulíková from the Ekopolis Foundation.

Fire handling rules:

  • Start a fire only in a fireplace in a reserved place;
  • Store wood at least two meters from the fire;
  • Extinguish the fire with water and rake the ember before leaving;
  • Don’t play music out loud, don’t disturb animals and other visitors;
  • When leaving, leave the picnic area clean and safe, making sure that no empty bottles, cans and other rubbish are left after roasting.
