Trees deserve our attention. Enrol your own tree into the contest The Tree of the Year 2021
The contest TheTtree of the Year has been seeking trees with extraordinary stories which emphasize the meaning of old, precious or endangered trees and which attract interest in environment among people already for 19 years across the whole Slovak republic. You can nominate your favourite tree since 1st April.
“Individuals, towns/cities, schools, organization are given the opportunity, also in the year 2021, to nominate the trees which they know, admire, love into the contest The Tree of the Year. The appeal is open until 30th April,” says Martina Ragalová, from Ekopolis Foundation which organizes the contest.
If you want to nominate your tree, you can do it electronically via online form or you can send your application via classic post. You will not only find more information on the web page, but also on the social pages of the Ekopolis Foundation. Following the deadline the professional committee will choose twelve finalists of this year among the all nominates. The supporters of the contest can be looking forward for the usual voting for the trees since the 1st July.
„A tree is a symbol of togetherness between people and nature. Each tree bonds carbon; retains water and it is an important environment for other organism. And therefore thanks to trees the country is nicer, more varied, more resistant to the climate change. We want to highlight exactly with the contest The Tree of the Year for those important functions which trees fulfill“ adds Peter Medveď, the director Ekopolis Foundation.
Slovenská Sporiteľňa Foundation, ISA Slovakia (International Society of Arboriculture), Dajama editorial, Art Forum bookshop, ABIES Garden centre and Terrabike have supported the contest Tree of the Year 2021. Popular jazz singer Peter Lipa has been the benefactor of the contest The Tree of the Year for 10th year. Nominate here.
