Good Neighbor Program to Support Active Communities Again

The Good Neighbor Grant Program will once again support communities and active individuals in the Bratislava city districts of Ružinov, Vrakuňa, Podunajské Biskupice, and Petržalka, as well as in the municipalities of Rovinka, Dunajská Lužná, and Most pri Bratislave. In 2025, exceptional ideas will have the opportunity to share a total of €40,000.

One of the program’s goals is to encourage collaboration and partnerships among local governments, educational institutions, and civic associations. The Good Neighbor Grant Program focuses on projects that maintain and foster strong neighborly relationships in Bratislava’s districts and in nearby municipalities surrounding the Slovnaft refinery.

Opportunities to develop and improve neighborhoods through small community projects are most often identified by local residents. “Who knows their neighborhood better than the people who live there? When a good idea is paired with determination, only a small step remains to bring it to life. That’s why, for the seventh time, we stand with active communities in our neighborhood,” says Anton Molnár, spokesperson and Director of Communications at Slovnaft, a.s.

Over six years, more than €173,000 has been distributed to 91 communities. “In 2024, through the Good Neighbor Grant Program, 447 active volunteers successfully organized 15 community events for children, seniors, and families, with over 2,700 participants in total. Additionally, 46 trees were planted, and support was provided for two community gardens and three school gardens,” summarizes Ľubica Štúberová, Program Manager at the Ekopolis Foundation.

The new round of the grant program once again provides an opportunity for innovative ideas based on collaboration between local governments or educational institutions and community groups. Projects that strengthen community life and promote cultural, sports, environmental, and social values will have the chance to be realized.

In 2025, the Good Neighbor program will allocate €40,000 to the best projects. The deadline for the first round of grant submissions for 2025 is January 13, 2025.
